Campus Wide Club Events
Club Awards
General InformationEach year, Club Council, the governing and advocacy body of student organizations at Appalachian State University coordinates the recognition of achievements made by our university’s students, student organizations and advisers. Students, faculty and staff are given the opportunity to make nominations for our twelve prestigious awards. Nomination packets that are received will be reviewed by a panel of students, faculty and staff of the University community, comprised of representatives across campus. When evaluating nominees for an award, the selection committee looks for the extent to which nominees have contributed to the University community through leadership, service and involvement. The selection committee’s decisions are final and are kept confidential until the awards ceremony.
Eligibility
An organization must be a recognized and registered organization with the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership at Appalachian State University.
Number of Entries
Your student organization may make a submission for all of the awards. Only one submission per category is allowed. Use a separate photocopy of the University Clubs and Organizations Awards Application Coversheet as the coversheet for your narrative and supporting materials.
Completing the Nomination Packet
You may nominate another person for one of the University Clubs and Organizations Awards, an organization of which you are a part, or you may apply for an award yourself.
A nomination is a one-page, typed narrative describing the contributions of the individual or organization you are nominating. An outstanding narrative will reflect significant fulfillment of the award’s description and answer any additional questions as outlined in the Awards Description section of this packet.
The due date for complete nomination packets is Monday March 16, 2009 at 5:00 PM. Only completed packets will be considered. If a packet includes recommendation letters from advisers, peers, or any additional supporting documents (photographs from events, flyers, advertisements, new member packets, etc.), please attach those to the appropriate University Clubs and Organizations Awards Application Coversheet. For example, if you are applying for five awards, you should submit five separate award packets with the Application Coversheet as the first page of each packet.
Nominations will be judged based on the criteria listed in the Awards Descriptions section of the University Clubs and Organizations Awards packet. A professional appearance of the packet is recommended, as well as any supporting documentation.
All contents should be paper clipped together (not stapled), with the University Clubs and Organizations Award Application Coversheet on the top.
