Steps to starting a new club

We are so pleased that you are interested in starting a new student organization at Appalachian State University. Involvement in student organizations is an important component of the Appalachian experience and will provide you and your members the opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a meaningful way. The chartering of new student organizations is overseen by Club Council with advisement from Campus Activities.

In order to be an officially registered student organization at Appalachian State University, you must submit a chartering application via Engage. The application will be avaliable Aug 18th - Nov 16th for Fall 2025 semester and Jan 12th- April 12th for Spring 2026 semester. If you have any questions, please contact Club Council via email - [email protected]

The following items must be included with your application in Engage:
  1. Charter Application (including the name and purpose of your organization)
  2. Membership Roster (including the contact information of at least 10 members)
  3. Student Organization Constitution (check out the New Student Organization Constitution Template (opens in a new tab)to help you write this)
